Philanthropic Ventures Foundation 1222 Preservation Park Way Oakland, CA 94612 How are you associated with "Philanthropic Ventures Foundation"? Why do your donations go to them?
Philanthropic Ventures Foundation (PVF) is API Giving Project’s fiscal sponsor. As a fiscal sponsor, PVF provides financial management and processes all our donations.
What is a fiscal sponsor and why do you have one?
A fiscal sponsor is a nonprofit organization that provides fiduciary oversight, financial management, and other administrative services to help build the capacity of charitable projects. In lieu of obtaining our own 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, which can take over a year to acquire and includes several start-up fees, we opted to start making an impact faster by partnering with Philanthropic Venture Foundation.
Does 100% of my donation go to the API Giving Project?
Pretty much! If you donate through our online donation page there is a 3% service fee, but everything else goes directly towards our grantee(s) each year. In case you were wondering, API Giving Project’s internal operating costs, which include expenses for our fiscal sponsor Philanthropic Ventures Foundation, are covered by our steering committee members.
